Notes on the construction and technical renovation of traditional casting workshops

In the process of transitioning from traditional casting enterprises to mechanized and automated casting workshops, it is very important to have a reasonable layout and planning of the workshop site; Mainly including: area allocation of casting workshop, layout of casting equipment, environmental requirements, and protective measures to be taken (safety protection);

1. Regional allocation of casting workshops: In the production casting of each casting enterprise, there is a certain process regardless of the use of a certain casting process; For example, in the process of wet sand casting, core making, molding, smelting, shot blasting, machining, etc. are all part of the process flow. In the division of workshop areas, possible problems in each process should be considered, such as the odor generated during the core making process of coated sand, some dust generated during the molding process, and the convenience and safety of transporting raw materials during the smelting process; Therefore, in the early stage of the construction of the casting generation workshop, we need to reasonably divide each work area based on the actual situation and future development plans, in order to achieve maximum efficiency in site utilization while meeting production demand and avoiding possible problem factors;

2. Layout of casting equipment: In the installation and construction of casting molding production lines, there are certain requirements for the site space of the casting workshop. Taking the steel structure factory as an example, the standard automated tidal sand treatment system generally requires the workshop height to be between 11-18 meters. The specific height and floor area need to be calculated based on the efficiency of hourly processing and the tonnage of old sand storage, including reserving sufficient maintenance space; In the initial stage of the production and installation of the standard automated tidal sand treatment system, we will provide reasonable and detailed workshop layout drawings, and users need to excavate pits, waterproofing, ground hardening, and load-bearing foundation piers on the workshop floor according to the requirements of the drawings before equipment installation; In the installation process of automated molding production lines, there are also certain requirements for the length of the production workshop. Under normal circumstances, the length of the molding line is generally required to be between 40-60 meters. The reason is that in the molding production process, while ensuring synchronous coordination of molding speed, the production line needs to place a sufficient number of sand molds for one-time pouring and cooling; The selection of the electric furnace melting area should consider the ability to quickly and conveniently pour the sand mold in a short period of time, and the molten iron that is melted will not pose a safety hazard to workers during transportation and transportation. It should also be combined with the installation area of the required material transportation and dust removal equipment for melting; The main purpose of a reasonable layout of casting equipment based on the above is to ensure that each operational link can cooperate and not interfere with each other during the generation process, and to invest in the casting generation process with the best work efficiency.

3. Environmental requirements: Environmental pollution also exists simultaneously in smelting and casting, with the largest environmental pollution being the generation of dust and exhaust gas. Therefore, in the construction of the casting workshop, we should set up ventilation ridges and skylights to meet the ventilation and lighting requirements of the workshop. Sealing covers should be installed at the source of the polluted area, and corresponding dust removal equipment should be installed and used. Timely treatment of dust and exhaust gas can also make the workshop environment cleaner and brighter, and it is also a guarantee for the physical and mental health of the casting workshop employees;

4. Protective measures to be taken: The operating equipment should be equipped with an interlocking control system, an emergency stop button, safety doors for maintenance, and all types of moving parts should be colored with eye-catching colors. Protective nets and railings should be installed at the entrance of the pit and steel structure platform. For live and mobile equipment, there should be clear safety signs and reliable neutral protection. Install alarm bells for transporting molten iron equipment. All mechanical transmission parts in the workshop are equipped with protective covers. The workshop considers safety doors and evacuation routes to facilitate evacuation in the event of a fire. Fire hydrants are installed in the workshop and various types of portable fire extinguishers are equipped to reduce the risk of fire in the workshop. Operators should be equipped with labor protection masks, radiation resistant glasses, gloves, and wear protective clothing, shoes, etc.
