Upgrading and improving the internal materials of the sand shooting cylinder of the ZOOMZU casting molding machine


During the process of filling and shooting sand inside the sand box on an automated casting molding machine, it is crucial to ensure smooth airflow for sand shooting, especially for casting molding machines that use top and bottom sand shooting methods, where the design of the gas pipeline will be more complex.

To ensure that a large amount of molding sand inside the shooting cylinder of the molding machine can be evenly sprayed and filled into the sand box within a short period of 2-4 seconds, we adopted a high-density sintered polyethylene (PE) as the permeable plate lining the shooting cylinder of the automated casting molding machine with top and bottom shooting methods in the early stage. The unique feature of this plate is that its surface is densely covered with fine permeable micropores, and the pore size is smaller than the sand particle size of the molding sand. When compressed gas enters the shooting cylinder, the gas will evenly emerge from the fine pores on the plate surface, forming an air cushion layer between the plate surface and the molding sand, thus achieving the effect of loosening the molding sand inside the shooting cylinder and preparing for the subsequent high-pressure gas shooting;


Since September 2022, in order to enhance the lifespan and improve the breathability of the lining plate of the shot blasting cylinder, we have replaced the polyethylene (PE) with a 5mm-thick stainless steel breathable plate made of 304 material. This new material has been tested and applied in molding machines with a specification of 650mm X 750mm in domestic foundry enterprises, receiving positive feedback from users. Compared to polyethylene PE, the 304 material breathable plate offers superior breathability. During the shot blasting process of molding machines with the same specification of sand box size, each sand mold can achieve the same pre-compaction effect with a reduction of 1.5kg of air pressure. In terms of the fixing method of the breathable plate, the 304 material breathable plate is easier to install and disassemble, and the fixing method is more secure. Lastly, regarding the service life, aging cycle, and gas pressure stress strength of this type of breathable plate, it has advantages over the polyethylene PE material breathable plate.
