Research has shown that for every 1% increase in moisture content in casting sand, the permeability of the sand decreases by about 15%. Once the permeability decreases, if the gas generated inside the mold cavity during casting cannot be discharged in a timely manner, the surface of the casting is prone to defects such as porosity, which seriously affects the quality of the casting;

In terms of the strength of the molding sand, if the moisture content in the molding sand exceeds 1.5% of the normal range, the wet strength of the molding sand will decrease by about 25%. When the moisture content of the molding sand is too high, the molding machine is prone to collapse or cracking of the sand mold during the molding process;
